I am very driven in my career to achieve my goals through by being diligent and extremely hard working. In my career I have worked in both sides of the construction industry – on site and off site as I believe it is very important to have a wide understand of the whole construction industry and the demands of the environment. My experience to date has focused mainly on the commercial sector for a variety of high value projects in varying working environment and cultures.
My long term aspirations are to continue to build on my commercial experience while developing experience in sole management and ownership of residential projects.
Key areas I wish to focus on would be:
Develop my leadership skills to a point where I could take the lead role in both commercial and residential projects of high values and importance with confidence. Develop mentoring skills for junior surveyors and construction staff. Be able to provide strategic guidance on projects for the organisation while understanding the organisational needs. Creating a strong reputation for myself within the construction industry.My long term goal 5yrs + would be to start my own company to apply all the industry excellence I have learnt to great a flagship leading company.
In addition to my career aspiration above I have my own personal objectives.
Personal Objectives
I live an active filled life with outdoor & nature activities being vital to my wellbeing. I value lifelong learning both inside and outside of a working environment. Some of my personal objectives are:
Finish marathon under 3 hours and participate in all World Marathon Majors Participate in Ultramarathon and Alpine Marathon Improve my Portuguese and learn Spanish My mental and physical health is of great importance to me and in order to achieve the above goals I pay strict attention to diet, do not drink or smoke and work out regularly to follow a tailored training schedule.I have a natural ability to learn language and I currently want to improve my Portuguese and become fluent. I am currently self-studying and intend to take up and attend a distance learning course during 2009 and use vacation opportunities to visit Portuguese and Spanish speaking countries.
I believe in life long learning and finding a good life/work balance is essential for the success in my personal and professional development.
